Professor emeritus James Wright received the prestigious  at this year鈥檚 annual meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) for 鈥濃, a book that he has coauthored  with research associate Mary K. Dabney.

This book draws on work done as part of the Nemea Valley Archaeological Project, a previous fieldwork site for the department. This publication is praised for its 鈥渁dmirably international 鈥 personnel鈥 and its 鈥渢ruly interdisciplinary鈥 approach. It also stands out because of its 鈥渁pplication of stratigraphic micromorphology鈥, which 鈥渙ffers readers an excellent case study in a context where hard-to-distinguish fills, cuts, and re-fills are of major interpretive importance鈥, and 鈥渢he incorporation of systematic paleobotanical and phytolith analysis.鈥  The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology congratulates Professor Wright and indeed all his collaborators, students, and workmen, for their achievements!
