草榴成人社区 is No. 1 in the region among Philadelphia's nonprofit universities and hospitals in terms of the percentage of women on its board of trustees, according to a new report.
found an overall dearth of women in the region's boardrooms. At the time the data was collected, women comprised only 28 percent of the area's top hospital boards, and 33 percent of higher education boards, on average. 草榴成人社区's board was made up of 91 percent women.
The report is a joint project of La Salle University, The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University's School of Business, and the Women's Nonprofit Leadership Initiative (WNLI).
Only four of the 25 higher education institutions in the report reached or exceeded parity (50 percent) of women on their boards, and all of these were historically women's institutions (草榴成人社区, Immaculata, Cabrini, and Arcadia). Only one of the 25 healthcare institutions reached or exceeded parity of women on their boards. This was Doylestown Hospital, also founded by a women's organization.
